Emmy Award-Winning Cinematographer and Force Fin Diver Jonathan Bird's "Silent Wrecks of Kwajalein Atoll" added to offerings in the media section of forcefin.com

"I like the Pro Force Fins for wreck diving because they're easy to maneuver in confined spaces"

Force Fin continues its DVD offerings with "The Silent Wrecks of Kwajalein Atoll", directed by Emmy Award-Winning Cinematographer Jonathan Bird and produced by Oceanic Research Group.*

During the Second World War, Japanese and American forces fought for control of the Pacific. Kwajalein Atoll, part of the Marshall Islands, saw several battles during which many ships and planes came to rest on the floor of her lagoon. This film examines the battle for Kwajalein through the underwater wrecks of those battles. Because Kwajalein has remained a U. S. military base since the war, few filmmakers have been able to film these wrecks, but Oceanic Research Group was granted permission by the U. S. Army and the Republic of Marshall Islands to enter her waters. The silent wrecks may now tell their story.

During the months of July and August 2000, members of Oceanic Research Group along with history and dive specialists filmed the underwater sequences for their fifth full-feature documentary, "The Silent Wrecks of Kwajalein Atoll". The DVD contains several extras, such as a director's commentary by Jonathan Bird, behind-the-scenes slide show with 125 images, and a W.W.II era Army film about the invasion of Kwajalein Atoll.

Emmy Award-winning underwater cinematographer and producer Jonathan Bird had this to say about his fin of choice for diving on location, "I use different Force Fins for different reasons. Extra Force are probably my favorite. I really like them for general SCUBA diving because they have a lot of umph. I like the Pros for wreck diving because they're easy to maneuver in confined spaces. After I started using them, I gave all my other fins away. But you're not taking my Force Fins!"

Other DVD's currently available from Force Fin Media are, "Dry Suit Diving in Depth" by Hammerhead Video Production and a selection of swimming videos from Total Immersion
